The story of the Consistent Crimp.

The patent pending Consistent Crimp, is a product whose time has come, in fact it is better described as long over due.  For the entire history of metalic reloading, reloaders have been in the odd position of using careful and detailed scientific procedures in the reloading process, until the final stage we call "crimping" where he applies  a "good old fashioned guess." For over 100 years reloaders have instictively known that crimping force "matters" with respect to bullet holding power under recoil, loading/unloading cycles and with respect to the Holy Grail we call accuracy. Since there was no way to quantify crimping force, reloaders simply concerned themselves with perfecting other reloading precedures. To this date some of the most often asked questions about reloading are: "How much do I crimp my bullets/ cartridges?", "How much crimp is enough crimp?", "How do I make consistent crimps, even after a die adjustment or even a die swap?"

The Consistent Crimp is the only tool we know of that actually measures crimping force.  The Consistent Crimp is the only tool that actually allows the reloader to select and  reliably repeat crimping force.  Once one is able to measure crimping force he can easily test "downrange" results in the same way one tests types or grains of powder. Once the optimal crimping force for a given load and rifle/ pistol combination has been discovered, it can be returned to quickly, easily and acurately any time in the future.

It is important to note that simply being Consistent is not enough!  "One can be consistently wrong." What if you were Consistently using the wrong crimping force? What if you could measure the crimping force and discover that 7.5 ft. lbs more or less would dramatically tighten your groups?

We have found that by optimizing crimping force, one can easily achieve above average results with even bulk priced compents making the Consistent Crimp a great value for reloaders that are on a budget. In fact we have had many reports of elated Consistent Crimp users that discovered that those "wonder bullets" they that had purchased and then found out their gun "wouldn't shoot", suddenly shot tight groups when they optimized crimping force using the Consistent Crimp. 

For those of you that like extra "bang for the buck", notice that the Consistent Crimp is not a single use tool.  The Consistent Crimp measures Crimping Force, Neck Sizing Force, (for instance Lee Precision Collet neck sizing dies instruction set require exactly 25 Ft. Lbs. of input force to make the perfect neck tension), and Primer Insertion Force.
